Glossary

Our glossary is a work-in-progress and meant to help us increase our own understanding of our byzantine prison system.

Jurisdiction: The form of legal authority over a facility: State, Federal, County, Other.

Unknown: Indicates the individual no longer is a resident of the last known facility, but we do not know their current status. In some cases they may have been transferred to another facility of which we do not have knowledge.

Released: Indicates that we have confirmation of the individual having been released from the system. If the release date is known, it will show in the record; if it is not known, an approximate date will be entered, along with a note to that effect.
